PATRICK’S PRIORITIES
Expand Mental Health Care Access.
Too many people, from the unhoused to students to seniors, are finding it difficult (or even impossible) to access mental health services they need. That is why as President of the Foothill De Anza College Board he is delivering a first-of-its-kind, full-service community health center. In the Assembly, Patrick will work with California’s colleges and universities to expand the recruitment and training of students into mental health professions.
Build More Housing at All Income Levels.
A lack of housing has many negative consequences: homelessness, housing insecurity, and a slowing of economic upward mobility for many, to name a few. Patrick’s answer as President of the college board: he led passage of a $200 million housing bond that will house students, staff, and faculty. He saw the need and chose to act, not waiting around for local cities to act on the housing crisis.
Make Real Progress on Homelessness.
After an unsettled home life with drug-addicted parents and time in the foster care system, Patrick and his twin brother lived out of their Ford hatchback for a time. Now, Patrick is working to make escaping homelessness to find a productive life like he did, a more likely outcome, instead of the exception it is today. He will bring the necessary resources for building permanent housing and deliver extensive support services, including more mental health and drug treatment programs.
Protect Reproductive Healthcare Rights & Access.
Patrick has stood up against the extremist drive to end reproductive healthcare rights in America and will work to ensure that all women have access to the services they need. His record earned Patrick earned the sole endorsement of Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte.
